Custom home building has been a family tradition for Schroeder Bros. Construction, Inc., for three generations.

George, Henry and Max Schroeder launched the original Schroeder Brothers at 4634 West Burleigh in Milwaukee in 1923.

The brothers specialized in custom home construction from the start. The business included a custom Millwork shop and Lumber Yard in the 1940s and 1950s - part of the postwar construction boom - at about 21st to 23rd Street and Cornell in Milwaukee. The brothers were building hundreds of homes a year during the boom years.

Henry and Max retired in the early 1960s. George continued and his son, George II, joined the firm in 1967 after learning the carpentry trade. The company moved west to 8518 West Capitol Drive in the 1960s, and continued new home construction throughout the Milwaukee Metropolitan area.

In the mid 1980s, Schroeder Brothers Construction moved to 5101 North 124th Street (near Lancaster in Butler).

The family tradition continues with the third generation George. George III started his training in carpentry at the age of 14. While attending high school and college, he continued to learn. Then, upon graduating from Marquette University, George III joined the family business.

In July of 2004, George and George built a new building at N63 W23849 Main Street in Sussex. This building is part of a condominium development, mixed with residential and commercial properties and is where Schroeder Brothers is located today. (Click here to see a map of the area.)
